Industry Academia Collaborations

Establishing Industry–Academia Technology Alliances

RCETS has established six industry–academia technology alliances to promote industrial technology and academic standards, including the Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells Alliance, the High-Value Steel Roof Industrial Alliance, the Energy Efficiency Optimization Alliance, the Multi-Fuel Combustion Alliance, the Offshore Wind Power Alliance, and the Heat-Insulation Building Material Industrial Alliance.

Establishing the Core Laboratories

The Floating LiDAR is the first offshore wind resource measurement system in Asia. This system can accurately measure wind speed, wind direction, and turbulence intensity at heights of 50 to 200 meters. This facility will help the Taiwanese offshore wind turbine industry.

The Core Facility Laboratory for Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells is the leading domestic research laboratory in this field. This laboratory contains 31 processing devices and 12 testing instruments, and is the foundation for the commercialization of academic research and greater industry–academia collaboration.

The Industrial Furnace Laboratory has the largest industrial furnaces for research purposes in Taiwan, which are used to investigate diverse types of fuels.

The Thermal Performance of Building Material Testing Laboratory is the only test and authentication organization of building materials in Taiwan. TAF laboratory accreditation will be completed in the near future, enabling the development of long-term industry–academia collaborations and research projects.

Supervising R&D Projects

RCETS supervises energy-related projects sponsored by the government and industry–academia collaborations to achieve the goal of sustainable development. As of June 2014, RCETS has received funding of approximately USD 3.51 million.
